I am grateful to Cal Newport (calnewport.com) for his perspective changing book “So Good they Can’t Ignore You, Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work you Love” where he demystified one of the lies that have mislead many people in their career pursuit.
He submitted that passion comes after you put in the hard work to become excellent at something valuable, not before.
Rather than waiting to find your passion, pursue excellence in what you are doing.
