The Least We Can do to Help Our Employers This COVID-19 Period

This period of COVID-19 pandemic is a more challenging time for many organizations. The preoccupation of many organisation now is survival. Someone jokingly said that the greatest achievement of organizations this year 2020 is that they survived.

For employees, it is a time to be understanding and show every level of support that can be mustered to the organisation.

I have witnessed recently the attitude of employees that speak only of aggravated sense of entitlement.

I guess this might be due to not having an understanding of how the organisation makes money and how the current challenges have negatively impacted the bottom line.

You may want to show concern by finding out how revenue has dwindled over the last 4 months in your organisation, so you can appreciate whatever you are still getting (pay and every other thing) from the organisation.

For some other people, it isn’t about not knowing the performance of the organisation, it’s just an embedded mindset of entitlement. They are always complaining and never putting themselves in the shoes of their employer.

God frowns at this type of attitude.

I know of an organisation, despite having suffered revenue loss,  has maintained the same staff strength since pre COVID 19 era and has been consistent in paying staff salary without any delay and any cut.

I heard some of the staff were complaining because the lunch menu was changed. What?

This compares to the children of Israel who failed to realize the great work that God did for them bringing them out of Egypt and were complaining about manna.

As Christian employees, this is the time;

  • we appreciate God that we still have a job
  • Thank God that the means of income has not dried up even if your salary has been cut down
  • Intercede for the leadership of your organisation that God grants them wisdom to navigate this time
  • Encourage your colleagues to do same for the organisation
  • Show appreciation to the organisation
  • Help them save cost and make more money
  • Find out how you can go an extra mile to help
  • Pay attention to God to guide you on what to do.

Please let us not eschew the mindset of entitlement, It is a wrong spirit and God detests it.

God bless you
