For the Sake of Easter

Happy Easter!

Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is regarded as the most important ‘festival’ of the Christian church.

The death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the reason why we are Christians today, for without this, we would be practicing a religion.

I watched a video clip shared with me on WhatsApp yesterday where ‘Jesus’ was being nailed to the cross.  In the video clip, as the first nail was driven through the left hand, I began to wring. When they were about to put the second nail on the right hand, they tied a rope on the wrist and pulled so that the veins could be clearly revealed. On sighting the vein, they targeted the nail on it and began the journey of driving it in. I was already twisting at this point and I had to stop watching the video.

Imagine the pains He went through for us. He did it so that we might be delivered from the power of death and darkness.

It is written that ‘for this purpose the son of God was made manifest that He might destroy the work of the devil’, and we know that the work of the devil is to steal, kill and destroy.

In another place, It is noted that He came that we might have life in abundance.

Imagine what He went through to give us the new life we now have in Him.

He suffered the pains of death for us for a reason. He didn’t have to do it, but He did it all the same for us not because we loved Him but because He first love us.

He didn’t pay this price for nothing, He wants us to be His witness to our generation, showing forth His love which He extended to us even when we were dead in sin.

This message is more pronounced from the scripture below;

“Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:7-10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

He wants us to join Him in the work He does.

If He would go through the pain of the cross to save us, what are we sacrificing for the good work He has called us to do?

We are His army in the workplace but have we gone AWOL?

Are we like Peacocks, strutting about in the workplace? The Bible says He was humble to the point of death, just that you and I might have the eternal life. What are we laying aside to be His true servants?

We focus so much on work deliverables that we forget the King’s deliverables perhaps because of the earthly reward. Can our salary, bonus, the benefits and promotion we are rewarded with compare with the agony of His death?

As we celebrate this Easter, let us think deeply and rededicate ourself to the work He has called us to. The agony of His death must not be wasted

God bless you.
