God Controls Kingdoms and Companies

This is the first of the seven foundational principles of career success.

Kingdom speaks of a territory ruled by a sovereign. In that case, we can conclude that God controls the kingdom of this world and every other that may exist because it is written that the earth and its fullness is the Lord’s (Psalm 24:1).

When we consider the submission of Hebrews 11:3, it is established that the worlds (note that it’s plural) were framed by the word of God, such that we can say any type of kingdom that exists was created by God.

We may argue based on Luke 4:5&6, and Matthew 4:8&9 that the devil laid claim to the kingdoms of the world. Yes, he could make that claim because it was truly handed over to him at the garden of eden by the first man. The truth however is that it was not taken from God who handed authority to man, the Almighty God reigns over the affairs of this world. This informed Jesus’s response to the devil that only God is to be worshipped.

When it comes to issues of career, the organizations we work (a form of a kingdom) and our entire life, God is very much in charge because He rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He will (Daniel 4:17)

This may not make sense because the things that happen in our corporate word seem logical than the claims I am making here. For example, how can it be accepted that an MDs tenure has expired and there is a need to find a suitable successor, so an Executive Search firm was engaged to select the right candidate, that God is in charge?

Here are few things you may want to mediate on

  • He takes away the first that He might establish the second. Hebrews 10:9
  • He has made all things beautiful in His own time. Ecclesiastes 3:11
  • To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

If then we know that God is in charge of what happens in the organizations that we work, how should we conduct our selves?

We must be trusting of this Almighty Father who has gotten all things under control and He is the one in charge of our lives. You are part of His plan and your life is so scripted that at the end of it all He is glorified in your story because precious are His thoughts towards you because they are good and not of evil to give you an expected end.

Secondly, you must understand that the many challenges are part of the glory to come. Hence, you must rejoice in them.

God bless you
