You are an employee of Christ not your company

Part 2 of the 7 Foundational Principles of Career Success

If we would come to the knowledge of this truth, that we are in the employ of God, many problems we have in our career will be solved.

Imagined being employed by the most loving boss in the world who doesn’t love you because of your good works but despite your evils.

Can you relate with this? Your boss knew you before you were born, He made you fit for certain roles and He is always ready to place you appropriately. Not only that, He has scripted your work career and He says everything is working out well to give you an expected end which is very precious.

Plus He rewards you in an immeasurable way when you are faithful in serving Him.

These may seem better imagined but they are actually the fundamental truth of every child in God’s kingdom.

Here are some of the implications of these truth;

  • you can never be jobless
  • You should never be dissatisfied with your job
  • You should never change job without discussing with your real Employer
  • You can’t play office politics (you must be smart however)
  • You can’t be quarrelsome
  • You can’t be disobedient to the policies of the organisation where you are serving your true Employer
  • You can’t lack anything as long as you please your boss ‘cause He won’t withhold any good thing from you.
  • Your Employer always watches out for you ‘cause He’s got good works for you to do
  • You can’t be lazy at work ‘cause your Employer abhors laziness
  • You can’t also be proud whatever privilege you have because it’s all from your Employer no matter how you think you got it
  • You must be productive. Your Employer deals with lack of productivity mercilessly

Why then don’t we have these things visible in our career even when we acknowledge that the great one is our employer?

There are guidelines to everything. We cannot do anything without our true Employer but the moment we think we are self sufficient and we are in charge, He backs out.

Then we have a different employer and we must do everything by our own power. Another  principle sets in and we are left to ourselves. It is now by power and strength no longer by grace and truth. It becomes the race of the swift, battle of the strong, wise, skillful and men of understanding.

We jettison our true Employer who gives good and perfect gift without having sorrow despite that He chastises us so that we can be the best He set us up to be.

If we have been struggling with our careers, we need to examine ourselves and ask who is truly our employer?

God bless you
